  The Team

The Taipei Ching-huo Kuan Lion Dance Troupe was founded in 1977 by Wang Tou-chi, who had been an apprentice to the master of lion dance in Taiwan, Li Hui-yu. Originally known as the Meng-chia Ching-shan Lion Dance Troupe, the group is comprised entirely of Wang Tou-chi, is family members and descendents. In 1990, Wang Yung-hsiung took over leadership of the troupe and gave it the name by which it is known today.

Our future

Recognizing that traditional Chinese lion dance faces a true survival challenge in this rapidly changing society, Wang has dedicated himself to promoting professional lion dance performances, replete with the accompanied music of drums and gongs, in order to pass along this important folk arts to modern time. The adroit drum skill of its members earns Ching-huo Kuan professional percussion group ever since, and numerous opportunities to perform throughout Taiwan. Ching-huo Kuan combines Taiwanese and Western percussion sounds and performance styles, hoping to extend the lifespan of their family cultural assets by exploring new directions and innovative techniques.
