An Arts Carnival of Bilateral Interflow
An Arts Carnival of Bilateral Interflow What is a children arts festival? What kind of children arts festivals do we need in Taipei City?
For us, a children arts festival is meaningful mostly on three levels: first, it is meant to narrow the gap between “children” and “arts,” so arts can be found in every corner of the city and touch the hearts of children, instead of being confined by regions and classes. For instance, our efforts in providing free performances in communities are made in wishes for the children to open another strange and intriguing window in their lives and to embrace the beauty of arts (including drama, dance, painting, music and so on). With the inspiration of arts, children can explore all kinds of interesting challenges in life.
The meaning of a children arts festival on the second level is to look back to the original pure value of “arts” through children’s eyes. At this moment of entering the 12th year, the 20 brilliant performing companies participating in the Taipei Children Arts Festival will surely bring laughers and sweet memories to all children, and artists themselves as well. “What I have been practicing with all efforts is nothing but bringing myself back to the casual graffiti in childhood,’ said Picasso once.
On the third level, children arts festivals enhance the positive interaction between “children” and “adults.” All the artistic and interactive designs of the activities intend for the two generations to understand each other and exchange their secrets and dreams. This is not merely a two-month long arts carnival but also an unusual journey into the happy world of arts.
Now, all the carefully devised activities are ready. Adults and kids, are you ready to come hand in hand and join us?
